Sophia ft. A2 in new single
Gambian dancehall dive Sophia has just released a new song titled What about Love, on which she features A2. The new single is a valentine inspired song recorded and mixed at Worldvibe Records. Credited for her distinctive voice, captivating stage acts and vocal skills, Sophia continues to show growth in her music with her spectacular stage acts. Last week, she featured in one of the opening acts for Jamaican dancehall sensation-Jahmiel during his debut Gambia concert at the Independence Stadium.
“The new single is a love song that I featured another dancehall star A2 on. It was realised on Valentine’s Day based on its content and story. The song entirely is based on love but not just romantic love but also love for education, wealth, money, passion or parental love. It’s just a love song” she told Standard Lite recently.
With an album launched last year, the singer-cum-songwriter is one of the few Gambian females who ventured into virtually a male dominated dancehall domain. Despite the stiff competition in the dancehall scene, Sophia has been able to survive the heat and continues to blaze the scene like never before. This to some extent has enabled her to become a household name in the country’s music scene in recent years.
