Financial Service (RFS) and the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) Wednesday
launched a 100 million dalasis micro finance facility fund name “Dollel Jigeen”
available for women groups within KMC. The fund targets to sustain women
Deputy mayor Musa Bah thanked Reliance for their support to women of the Municipality, saying the micro finance agency have been providing solutions to the challenges of women.
He said it is a great pleasure for the Council to partner with Reliance to help women, especially those in the production of different local product within the Municipality.
Reliance Serrekunda branch manager Anna Jobe said they are proud to help women to improve their business within and outside the country, saying they are the backbone of their families and in nation development. “It is important to empower women. This was what motivated us to give 100 million dalasis to the women of Kanifing.”
Two of the beneficiaries Awa Colley and Oumie Jallow commended Reliance and KMC for helping the women of the Municipality to start business, saying this is not the first time they are receiving such help.
Momodou Joof, head of operations at Reliance said the fund is expected to improve the working capital needs of the women in their trade in horticulture, small scale processing services, skills and labor, animal husbandry and the provision of minimum loan facility of 10,000 dalasi and maximum of 15,000 dalasi per member.
