Reliance, Farm Engineering latest causalities in Gunjur Nawettan

Reliance Financial Services and knockout champions Engineering are the latest causalities after being eliminated in the ongoing Gunjur summer biggest football carnival at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Wednesday.

Reliance Financial Services were booted out of the league and knockout competition after losing to Red Stars and Kundembo in the quarterfinals.

Reliance were kicked out of the knockout following their 1-0 defeat sustained in the hands of Red Stars in the knockout quarterfinal before losing to Kundembo on penalties, after a goalless draw in the regulation time.

Farm Engineering crashed out of the league after their 2-1 defeat to Dunes in the quarterfinal on Wednesday and will now hang their boots till next season following their exit from the knockout.

The Kartong-based outfit clinched their first-ever trophy in their debut season in the Gunjur summer biggest football gala after beating Reliance 1-0 in the re-played knockout final match last season.

Meanwhile, on Saturday 19 September 2015, Red Stars will host reigning league and Super Cup champions Santos in the knockout semifinal.

Red Stars booked their ticket to the knockout semifinal following their 1-0 win over Reliance Financial Services in the quarterfinal and will be challenging for revenge against Santos to sail to the knockout final, after losing to the Santos-based outfit 3-0 in the league final last season.

The Santos-based outfit thrashed Red Stars 3-0 in the league final last season to clinch their first-ever league in Gunjur nawettan with goals from skipper Bakary S. On Sunday 20 September 2015, Passamai will play against World Eleven in the other knockout semifinal.

Passamai sailed to the knockout semifinal following their resounding 2-0 win over Kajang in the quarterfinal and will be aiming for a victory against World Eleven to advance to the final.

World Eleven progressed to the knockout semifinal after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nyokoyorr in the quarterfinal and will be fighting for a win against Passamai in the semifinal to snatch a place in the knockout final.
