league leaders Red Scorpions have maintained their perfect form in the 2017/18
Gambia Football Federation Women Division one league after defeating Abuko
United 5-1 at the FIFA Goal Project at Old Yundum over the weekend.
The Red Devils had bagged 28 points before their weekend clash with Abuko United, who are occupying third place with 17 points before the latter’s 5-1 humiliating defeat in the week twelve fixture.
The Red Devils took the lead through Penda Camara in the 10th minute of the game to give her side the lead and moments later, Abuko United found themselves 2-0 down when prolific striker Adama Tamba doubled the Red Devils’ advantage in the 12th minute of the game by capitalising on Abuko United’s defensive slip, to fire home the second goal.
Aminata Camara slotted home the third goal from a close range shot in the 38th minute of the game. Centre-back Mariama Sanyang’s 40th minute goal made it 4-0 for Red Scorpions to dash the Abuko girls’ hopes of coming back into the game.
Striker Adama Tamba netted the fifth goal for Red Scorpions in the 58th minute of the game to seal a certain and convincing win and complete her brace but Fatou Dukureh’s 76th minute strike only proved to be a consolation for Abuko United.
Gambia Armed Forces drew 1-1 with Immigration in the all security derby fixture.
Meanwhile, in the Women second division league, City Girls drew 0-0 with Brikama at the FIFA goal project at Old Yundum while Jeshwang United thrashed Jam City 3-0. Kinteh’s United beat Berewulleng 2-1 at the same venue.
