Red scorpion, Interior grab wins in women league one opener

Red scorpion and Interior women football teams over the weekend grabbed their first win in the 2018/19 women’s league after their respective victories.

Interior thrash Immigration 3-0 in the all security derby clash played at Father Gough sport complex in Manjai Kunda on Friday.

Red Scorpion meanwhile defeated Abuko United 2-1 on Saturday at the Serrekunda East mini stadium.

Prolific striker Adama Tamba scored a brace for the Jeshwang based women football club while Fatou Dukureh registered Abuko United’s consolation goal.

On the same day at Manjai the Khaki girls (Armed Forces) drew goalless with debutant City girls.

Speaking to Pointsports after the final whistle, head coach of Red Scorpions Chorro Mbenga thank her players for sticking to her game plan as well as playing to expectation.

For his part Omar Cham, head coach of Abuko United said he was impressed with the performance despite the defeat to “a great team, the defending champions Red Scorpion”.
