The trial for “rash and negligent act causing death” involving one Adama Badjie was Monday heard at the Brikama magistrates’ court, before magistrate Isatou Janneh.

The first prosecution witness (PW1) was one Adama Manneh, a traffic police officer attached to Bondali Police Station.

He told the court that he knew the accused person, and that the alleged incident happened on 3 November 2013.

He said the accused was driving a motor vehicle with registration number Alsamadeh, coming from Bwiam going toward Kanfenda.

The driver reportedly asked someone in the vehicle to control the mirror on the right side, and while the driver was concentrating on the mirror, the vehicle left the main road and knocked a tree, which caused the death of one Aja Sutukung Bojang, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Traffic officer Manneh said the scene was visited, and a sketch plan was constructed, which he signed and the accused signed.

The sketch plan was admitted in court as an exhibit.

The case was adjourned to 24 September 2014.
