Quality Assurance, Recognition of tools in Higher Education in Africa project launched

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO-Shenzhen Project on Quality Assurance and Recognition of tools in higher education in Africa was last Friday launched at the Baobab Holiday Resort in Bijilo.

Quality Assurance in higher education in Africa is gaining significant momentum and the development of higher education hinges on the establishment of quality assurance systems at national, sub-regional and regional level.

Yahya Sirreh Jallow, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology said in his launching statement that UNESCO-Shenzhen project is meant at improving higher education in The Gambia.

Gibril Jallow, a representative from the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA) said quality assurance is meant to produce excellence in higher education and improve lecturers.

Director of higher education, research, science and technology Antony G. Mendy said the UNESCO-Shenzhen project is aim at strengthening quality education in The Gambia.
