Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Ebrima Hydara on Monday testified in the case involving one Lamin Camara of Nemakunku, who was charged with obtaining money by false pretence before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

Ebrima Hydara testified as the second prosecution witness (PW2) telling the court that the incident occurred on 24 November 2010 when he was sitting in the complainant’s house together with one Foday Sonko watching the TV.

He said the complainant came with her friend, Kaddy Jarju, and he (the witness) asked the complainant why she went out early and the complainant told him she went out to collect her money from Western Union MoneyGram.

The witness further told the court that while he was at the complainant’s house, the complainant called the accused person with her phone for him to come.

The accused came and the complainant gave him D200, 000 to help her with a visa in his presence.

According to him, when the accused left, he told the complainant that he should not have given all the D200, 000 to the accused because it was not safe, but the complainant told him there would be no problem because he knew the accused very well.

He later made his statement at the Brikama Police Station when the matter was reported to the police, he said.

The said statement was admitted and tendered as exhibit.

Further hearing into the case was adjourned till 7 May 2012.
