Prosecutor may apply for revocation of Killa Ace’s bail

Friday, January 11, 2019

Police Prosecutor Sergeant 2118 Gomez on 3rd January, 2019, said before Magistrate Joof of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court that he may apply for the revocation of Killa Ace’s bail.

He told the court that the defence counsel, Patrick Gomez, told him that he was discharged from hospital and would not be able to come to court. He further stated that the accused, Killa Ace, who was charged with breach of the peace and assaulting a police officer, was also absent.

He said that the absence of the defence counsel should not stop the accused from coming to court. He added that it was the second time the defense counsel and the accused had been absent, warning that if the accused failed to appear in court on the next adjourned date, he would apply for the court to revoke his bail.

At this juncture, Magistrate Joof told the court that according to the court’s record, the defence counsel and the accused had been absent on two occasions, adding that he would give them the last opportunity to appear in court.

The case was subsequently adjourned to the 17th January 2019, for continuation.

The prosecution has already called two witnesses to testify. They were cross-examined by the defence counsel at the end of their testimonies to discredit, challenge and contradict them. Cross-examination of the second witness will continue when the case resumes.
