Monday, February 23, 2009

The visiting Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza stunned a storm of football lovers on Saturday 21st February at the Independence Stadium in a clash between the Government and the Private Sector.

President Nkurunziza, who is on a four day working visit in The Gambia, swayed his talent to the football pitch in a friendly match organised by the state, as part of President Jammeh's apparatus of uniting people through sport.

President Nkurunziza's first minute goal serves as merit in helping the Government edge over the Private Sector by beating them 3-2.

The Government star player, President Nkurunziza and Piere Gomez were on the score sheet for Government while Emad Diab scored both goals for the private sector.

The match was grace by the Vice President Dr. Isatou Njie Saidy with top Government dignitaries and the cross section of the private sector.

The trophy was sponsored by Number 1 Sport Shop.
