Adama Barrow is expected to welcome Gambia’s National U-20 team to State House
in Banjul today following championship success in the WAFU Zone A football
The Young Scorpions returned to Banjul over the weekend after lifting the Sub-regional football tournament trophy hosted in Liberia.
President Barrow made the announcement through State House Press Office that contained his congratulatory message to the Young Scorpions and trended on social media. “Congratulations to our young Scorpions on their victory as the new Champions of WAFU U-20 Cup of Nations in Liberia. We are proud of your performance as the only unbeaten team of the tournament,” President Barrow was quoted.
He said as a football fan, he is indeed happy with the performance of the team and renewed his commitment to continue to champion sports as a means of engaging young people as well as promoting the cause of national cohesion and harmony.
The Young Scorpions will be accompanied to State House by GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo and his executive.
