President Barrow receives Islamic delegation from Kolda

President Adama Barrow recently received a delegation of Islamic leaders from Madina Suwaneh in Senegal’s southern Kolda region led by Sheikh Abdalaye Karamba Suwaneh.  

During the meeting at State House, Mr. Suwaneh praised the character of President Barrow and prayed for peace and success in his undertakings.  He advised Mr. Barrow to remain humble, truthful and to maintain the virtue of kindness.

President Barrow thanked the Khalipha of Madina Suwaneh for visiting him and urged the religious leader to continue praying for his government and the entire Gambian peoples’ peace and success.  The Presidential adviser on Religion and tradition Dembo Bojang also expressed similar sentiments.

Alhajie Alhaiba Hydara, airport imam who was part of the delegation said for over a decade, the Khalipha has been conducting annual visits to The Gambia to pray for his scholars as well as the people of the country for peace and progress to prevail.  “Madina Suwaneh is known in the Senegambia region as home of religious scholars,” he stated.
