Sgt Colley, a police officer attached to the Yundum Police Station last Tuesday testified at the Brikama Magistrates' Court in the trial of one Dodou Bojang who has been charged with receiving suspected stolen property.

In his testimony, Officer Colley told the court that on the 2nd December 2008 while on duty at the Yundum police station, he received information that there was one John Mendy of Banyaka village who has been found in possession of three rams that were suspected to be stolen, one ram belonging to Samba Jallow and two rams belonging to Omar Jatta of Brufut village.  He added that upon receiving that information John Mendy was arrested and brought to the police station where he was interrogated. He informed the court that John Mendy claimed that the rams were sold to him by one Dodou Bojang the accused.

Further testifying, Sgt Colley informed the court that the accused person was arrested by the police and brought to Yundum police station where he was confronted on the facts in the presence of Mr Mendy. He said the accused Dodou Bojang was later cautioned and charged with the offence committed.

Hearing continues.
