Police in the Central River Region (CRR) are searching a man suspected to have rape an underage girl in the metropolitan town of Bansang; The Point has been reliably informed.

Our source in CRR said that the suspect was arrested by a group of people in Bansang in the aftermath of the case but was later released when one Abdoulie Baldeh appealed to the group.

However, Mr. Baldeh later admitted he didn’t know it was a crime to launch such an appeal.

“The police were later informed about the incident which leads to the arrest of Mr. Baldeh. He told the police that he never thought it was a crime for appealing for an individual to be released,” our source added.

“He is now given an ultimatum by the police to produce the suspect or be remanded at the Janjangbureh Prison.”
