Police arrests 3 over 59 gallons gas oil theft

Police in Banjul in the early hours of Monday morning arrested three suspects for reportedly stealing 59 gallons of gas oil from the Vimo 111 Oil Ship that is currently stationed at the Banjul Sea, The Point can authoritatively report.

The suspects: Abdouraman Manneh, Alieu Gaye a fisherman and Sheikh Nyass were detained at Special Crime Unit at the Police Headquarters in Banjul at the time of gathering the report.They were arrested in Banjul with 54 gallons of 30 liters of gas oil alongside 4 other gallons of 20 liters of gas oil around the ferry terminal.

Police deputy spokesperson, Foday Conta, has confirmed the development to our reporter. He said the police patrol team arrested the suspects with the suspected gas oil as they were trying to off load the gallons of gas oil from a canoe in Banjul.

Deputy police spokesperson, ASP Conta said their preliminary investigation revealed that the suspected gallons of gas oil are from Vimo 111 Oil Ship, which is from Las Palmas in Spain. “The matter has been forwarded to the Serious Crime Unit of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) and that the officers are currently on their marathon investigation.”
