Police arrest 2 for baby dumping

Police in the Lower River Region (LRR) have arrested two suspects in connection with the dumping of a six month old baby boy in a toilet at  LRR, The Point has learnt.

The two suspects at the time of gathering this report were on detention as police investigation into the matter continues. A source that is familiar with the matter and spoke to The Point on the condition of anonymity said one of the accused is a minor.

Our source added that one Alhagie Masembeh Jabbie who is an adult asked the 11-year-old girl to throw the six month old baby boy in the toilet. “The man promised to give her a laptop and a tablet if she does as urged.”

The mother of the baby boy was out and left the baby with the little girl, according to our source. “When the mother came back home, she asked for the child but the child was nowhere to be found. A search was conducted and the baby was later found in the toilet. The Fire and Rescue Services were informed, who finally rescued the baby.”

The baby is currently recuperating from a hospital in the region.
