The Point entertainment columnist Njie Baldeh Saturday left for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in a course on peace building offered by the African Centre for Peace and Security Training.

Titled “the Artist as peace builder,” the course drew participants from across the world to learn more about peace building from 14 to 25 April 2014.

Mr Baldeh is one of the 25 successful African applicants of over 150 from across the world.

Before leaving The Gambia for Ethiopia, Mr Baldeh highlighted the significance of the course to artists, saying the artist is also seen as peace builder.

As journalist dealing with artists, he noted, it is significant for him to attend such a training as it would help to develop not only his capacity as an individual, but also the output of his institution.

The training would focus mainly on peace building and the contribution of artists towards security and peace, Baldeh added.

He also highlighted the need for journalists to be given travelling opportunities to get exposure and increase their knowledge and experience.

He thanked the management of The Point Newspaper for aiding him to attend the training, as well as the course organizers for creating the opportunity and facilitating the trip.
