permanent secretary from programmes and projects at the Ministry of finance and
economic affairs has said that performance management is meant to enhance
economic growth and development through effective leadership.
Addressing head of departments and supervisors of the Ministry of finance and key stakeholders at the conclusion of a four-day training on strategy and performance management, Juldeh Ceesay said the training was due for institutional strengthening in terms of performance management to fill the current existing gaps.
She said the target is to create effective and efficient management of staff for organisations to meet outlined goals and objectives.
“Besides management of public funds, my ministry has the mandate to drive the process of effective utilisation of public resources through remuneration for dispensation of duties assigned to employees,” She said.
Mrs. Ceesay said achieving the targets will depend on the degree of institutions and state owned enterprises engagement in the process through enhanced dialogue and training on performance management.
She said effectiveness and efficiency in performance management is contingent upon significant enhancements of the capacities of all institutions, stakeholder, organisations and local communities.
Director General of MDI, Alieu Jarju said capacity enhancement is significant in building the skills of the participants in all areas. “It will improve teamwork which is a pivotal role to play in instituting performance management in the respective institutions.”
