The Peace Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution Foundation (PERECORE) organised a day-long orientation and sensitisation workshop for new members on Saturday.

The workshop, held at The Gambia Girl Guides Association Conference Hall in Kanifing, was on the theme the “Role of Peace Education in a Secular Society, The Gambia Experience.”

Delivering his opening statement, Reverend Dr. E. Dennis Ejila PHD, who is also the presiding Bishop of King Jesus Ministries in Lamin Village, said the purpose of the workshop was to sensitise the new members of the foundation on peace, reconciliation and conflict resolution matters.

He said PERECORE was founded on 10 February 2014 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

PERECORE’s principal activities are peace and conflict resolution, education, community developmental projects, governance and democracy.

He said the organisation has a research institute, which centered on educating the general public on peaceful co-existence among people of diverse faith, tribes and nationalities.

PERECORE has also initiated a family crisis-resolution programme focusing on resolving internal family related-conflicts through counseling operations.

The programme was designed in such a way to support day-to-day family life, so as to provide families with the unity guidelines needed to protect their family-cycle.

Dr Dennis further said PERECORE has close to 100 registered members participating in their peace-building capacity programme aimed at orientating them on peace management techniques and conflict resolution.

The organisation takes pride in delivering humanitarian services to the general public for free of charge.
