women national team captain Penda Bah has completed a move to Nigeria Women
Premier league (NWPL) side Dream Stars Ladies.
The 20-year-old was scouted during the women Scorpions 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifier match against the Super Falcons of Nigeria where she put up a good performance despite losing to the Super Falcons.
Penda landed in Nigeria’s largest city of Lagos on Thursday morning to complete her loan move from Gambian female top-side Interior.
Dream Stars Ladies coach Felix Ifeanyi Nwosu was delighted to have the striker-cum-midfielder added to his ranks and said he is looking forward to her success in the country’s women top-flight league. “It’s like a dream come true having Penda under me as I have been a longtime admirer of her. Actually, she is like a daughter to me and will be the biggest name in my team, so I am hoping to see her excel in the league. I’m sure she will feel at home.”
Nwosu also extolled the CEO of Modoustic Sports PR who brokered the deal. “I want to thank my friend Modou Lamin Beyai who I have known for a very long time as a big agent, for making it possible. We hope to have more players like Penda in our team.”
Penda was Gambia’s first goal scorer at the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan and has guided Interior FC to several titles, the recent of which was guiding them to edge arch rivals Red Scorpions to win the 2018 Gambia Women’s FF Cup.
Dream Stars Ladies of Lagos meanwhile secured promotion to the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) after finishing top of Group B in the Pro-league playoff.
