sports journalist, Pap Saine has called on Gambian authorities to always
provide better and early preparation for the country’s senior national team –
the Scorpions by releasing fund meant for football development to ensure
He said the problem of the national team, unlike other countries is that authorities don’t release the money allocated to football very early which leads to late preparation. “This is why countries like Algeria are far ahead in international football.”
Mr. Saine said Gambia has the talents but poor preparations have always been the case. He said CAF has increased the number of teams to 24 to ensure more teams participation. “We should do away with this struggle,” he said while commenting the Gambia-Algeria AFCON game over the Gambia Radio and Television Services on Saturday. The Gambia drew 1-1 with Algeria on home soil on Saturday.
