One of Gambia’s business tycoons and consular general of Cyprus, Salieu K. Jaiteh, last Friday donated 1,200 meters of blankets to inmates at the Mile 2 central prison in Banjul.

The donation was presented to prison officials at The Gambia Prison Administrative Head Office at Mile 2.

Receiving the donation, Supt. Landing Jarju thanked the donor for the gesture, saying Mr. Jaiteh is a patriotic citizen of the country who has been supporting the institution and The Gambia for the past years.”

He promised that the items would go a long way in helping the inmates, saying the government alone cannot do everything.

Salifu K. Jaiteh said he decided to donate the items to the prison department because of the efforts and services they are rendering to the nation.

He said as a patriotic citizen, he will continue to play his part in complimenting government’s efforts to the development of the country.

“I consider national development as everyone’s concern. We are all aware that government alone cannot accomplish its development goals without partnering with others.”
