Now is the time to deepen our active participation in democratic process. But it’ll require active youth participation, those youths who are ready to bring expertise knowledge, skills and values to breaking the junk of mediocrity and mental backwardness.

The younger people in Gambia must be actively engaged in their community - promoting innovation-driven solutions that are scalable and sustainable. We can’t be mere onlookers - waiting for the tables to turn unto our favour.

We must be actively engaged in various civic engagement, community development initiatives, enterprise creation, etc.

“For the strength of every nation lies in the mental capability of its younger citizenry”.

The youth should actively participate in any of these three roles and opportunities towards an economic growth and development, sustainable living; and they include:

A. Youth Political Participation:

Every youth has a civic right to decide key political actions. Voting in an election is an individual responsibility. Join a political party or pressure groups, write to your local lawmakers on key development issues, etc.

B. Youth Driving Social Change

Youth can initiate community projects driven towards implementing sustainable changes. Innovating sustainable solutions to social problems that exist in their community.

C. Youth Economic Engagement

Youth can start sustainable businesses that solve the problems of key social issues, thereby creating wealth in the process. Wealth creation process is very vital.

From that perspective, l am having a project to train 1000 youths from zero to full engineers into electronic manufacturing, where we can train our youths in our own soil, and get 25% GDP boost to our national economy.

Since employment is a worldwide challenge, we need skilled trained youths for creating wealth and economic development growth.

l thank you all for your untiring efforts to free our great nation.

 Long live the new era!
