Heart Gambia; a non-charitable organisation in The Gambia recently held a day
fundraising event to support cardiac patients in the country.
Held at the Medical Research Council Gambia (MRCG), the raised fund will be directed to supporting children suffering from cardiac disease and to embark on massive sensitisation campaign on the need to prevent cardiac disease.
Speaking to Journalists at the sideline of the event, head of the organisation Dr. Annett Brhart said they are a humanitarian charitable and voluntary organisation that supports children with heart disease in The Gambia.
According to Brhart, heart disease is caused by bacteria that causes sore throat and even skin infection if not treated with antibiotics. “It stays in the body and affect the heart which lead to heart failure.’
Minister of Health and social Welfare, Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh describe the event as very important as it seek to raise fund and address children with heart disease. He commended one Heart Gambia for putting children as their top priority, adding that children also need equal care.
Minister Samateh assured the organisation of his Ministry and Government commitment to work with them and bring more donors to sponsor the initiative
