Gambian charitable organisation, Oriented Mines Group (OMG) have recently
donated clothing and sanitary materials to the Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital
in Banjul, as part of their contribution to complement government efforts in
the health sector. The donated materials include clothes, perfume, soap and
Abdoulie Bah, vice chairman of the organisation said they made the donation to complement Gambia government and the health ministry efforts in supporting the mentally imbalanced. He added that the organisation was formed in 2010.
“We though it is needful to form an organisation that would give back to the community and since the formation, we give back in various forms, every year. Last year, our community services was on education and this year we want to do something that is related to health.”
Mr. Bah said they felt that it was important to support the hospital and conduct their community service there, by giving them some needful materials.
Yankuba Suwareh, nursing officer at the hospital commended the organisation for the gesture, calling it a big thing to them. He said the donation would go a long way in helping the patients in the hospital.
Mr. Suwareh thanked them for considering the hospital, saying gifts are never small to them.
