Old Yundum NAM meets electorate

The National Assembly Member for Old Yundum Constituency, Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay and his delegates over the weekend met his electorate at the Old Yundum Bantaba.

Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay explained that he was voted into office by the people of Old Yundum, based on the confidence bestowed on him.

He said as their representative he felt necessary to meet them, in order to thank them.

He said before the election there were several issues needing attention, hence he need to have meeting with them to discuss the way forward in addressing them.

According to Hon. Ceesay, he wants to get more information about their concerns and see how to address their concerns. “We cannot just sit in the office and forget about the electorate who put us into office.”

He said the objective was also to attract other parties’ supporters to join them for better national development.

He thanked the Alkalo of Old Yundum for his active role in uniting people in his constituency, saying he has been very supportive to ensure that positive changes happen in the community.

He said he was delighted to see large numbers of women coming to grace the meeting, and that they always want to serve them and talk to them to know their problem.

He said he would also go back to the authorities to seek support to help address their concerns.

During the meeting, road rehabilitation and electricity was the centre of their concern.

In response, Hon. Ceesay said when he first assumed office, the first thing he did was to set up a committee that would steer the affairs of Old Yundum in terms of anything that they need.

“We have been looking at the areas of water, sanitation, health and electricity, and there are people attached to all sectors of this committee,” he said.

Hon. Ceesay disclosed that at the next meeting all VDC chairpersons would be invited to come up with the priority needs in their areas.

He assured the community of Old Yundum that immediately after the rainy season the problem of road would be addressed.

For his part, the Alkalo of Old Yundum, Mamudou Fye, said Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay is not a new person in the Old Yundum community, as he has been working with the community for ages, supporting them in all areas.

He said as a community worker and now a national assembly member, he knew their concerns would be addressed and all what they should do was to give him the support.

“Hon. Ceesay is a young man who is very determined and hard working,” he said, adding that he will endeavour to ensure that the community of Old Yundum benefit.

He further commended the large number of women present and assured Hon. Ceesay that his community would continue to give him all the necessary support to carry out his responsibility.
