National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) have oriented 150 young people who will be
undergoing a 6-month skills training programme called Accelerated
Apprenticeship Training Program (AATP) with funding from the European Union
funded Youth Empowerment Project (YEP).
The Ninety-nine male and fifty-one female recruits will be train on rice agronomy, auto mechanics and electrical, plumbing and tailoring.
The training is part of efforts to curb irregular migration which has led to lose of lives of many young Gambians and employment creation.
“You are here as a corps, expected to undergo 6 months trainings and I am sure you can do it. NYSS programmes are targets to reduce irregular migration in the country,” Nfamara Bojang, NYSS board member said.
