NSC names GFF investigation team

The National Sports Council (NSC) has appointed 7 eminent sports personalities and experts to investigate GFF President and the Gambia Football Federation on the following: Allegations of financial fraud in the management of the NTTC Renovation, Refurbishment and furnishing project among others; Protests received from the various Regions regarding Regional Football Associations Elective Congresses in violations of the GFF constitution by the GFF President; Blue Stars FC, Interior FC and Bakau United FC on Match Fixing allegations; Petition of Interior FC, and Bakau Komani FC against Gambia Football Federation; and the response letter from the GFF on the Poor Performance of the National Teams and alleging and reporting the Gambia Government to FIFA and CAF for lack of transparency, mobilisation and inadequate disbursement of funds for National Team activities.

This followed the notice of investigation sent to the Gambia Football Federation, the National Sports Council, acting in accordance with section 18, 1 (d) of the National Sports Council Act 2000, which was enacted by the National Assembly of the Gambia, has appointed the under mentioned.

Members of the investigation team are Honourable Alhagie S. Darboe, National Assembly Member as Chairman of the   Panel; Mr Alpha Omar Jallow, Head of Audit at ECOBank Gambia Ltd; Mr Namory Trawally, Former President of the Gambia Sports Journalist Association; Sheriff K. Jobe Legal Practitioner; Mr Baboucarr Senghore, Gambia Radio and Television Services (Sport Desk); Musa Jassey C/O Sarr Construction and a representative of the Gambia Police Force.

According to the media release made available to Pointsports, the Panel may co-opt other personalities into the committee to help in the investigation if the need arises.

The Council is also requesting from GFF Members, Partners and the General Public to kindly provide any helpful information to the investigation team on the areas being investigated, saying all information received will be treated with the highest confidentiality.

The Council informs all GFF Members, Partners, and the General Public that sittings of the Investigation Team will be held at the Independence Stadium Board room in Bakau.
