Sports Council –NSC- coalition football tournament is set to begin this Sunday
at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The tournament is part of the one-year anniversary of Gambia’s coalition government under President Adama Barrow. West Coast Region, Central River Region, North Bank Region, Lower River Region, Upper River Region, Kanifing Municipality, Brufut and Banjul are expected to compete for the championship.
West Coast Region will clash with Central River Region in the opening game of the tournament on Sunday at 3pm. North Bank Region will battle it out with Lower River Region in the second game at 5pm that same day while on Monday 26 February, Brufut will rub shoulders with Upper River Region at 3pm and Banjul will face Kanifing Municipality at 5pm on match day two.
Semifinal matches are set for 27 February, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau with pairings, winner 2 will play against winner 4 in the first semifinal at 5pm while winner 1 will meet winner 3 in the second semifinal at 7pm. The final is slated for 28 February, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 5pm.
Ebrima Secka, program manager at the National Sports Council –NSC- said they organised the tournament and that President Adama Barrow and his cabinet will be in attendance.
Secka revealed that the winner and runners-up will receive cash prizes and medals and there will be a prize for the third-place winner.
