Assembly members of Central River Region’s Niani constituency have recently
conducted a five-day tour of project sites within his jurisdiction to gather
first-hand information on some of the activities and projects.
Alhagie Sillah’s visit took him to Sukuta women garden which was sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Sector Development Project (FASDEP), Barajally, Suba and Tenda rice fields, Makasaderr and Madina women garden which are all sponsored by the National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) and a poultry farm at Madina.
Mr. Sillah also visited the ongoing construction site of a road linking Kuntaur Jakaba to Brajally Tenda and also Brajally lower basic school. The team was led by Foday Jadama, CRR-North Director of agriculture.
The Niani lawmaker had discussion with farmers where he highlighted the significance of agriculture in Gambia’s socio-economic development, as 75 percent of the population depend on agriculture.
He visit Madina poultry farm where 1000 birds are reared. “The importance of these birds cannot be over emphasised. They provide eggs and meat for the people in the district.”
Modou Camara, director of livestock in CRR-North and the region’s agriculture director Foday Jadama both assured NAM Sillah that they will continue working effectively in the area to eradicate hunger.
Village development committee chairperson of Brajally Tenda Buba Nanko, Mod Musa Ceesay of Barajally Tenda, Dusu Jabbie of Sukuta, Mbaye Manneh, Abdoul Jawo, Jalika Ceesay and the Alkalo of Madina Jimmo Juwara all thanked Mr. Sillah for his good work in the area.
