of the Network of Financial and Tax Reporters (NFTR) - Gambia chapter recently
paid a courtesy call to the Commissioner General of The Gambia Revenue
Authority (GRA), Yankuba Darboe at his office in Banjul.
The courtesy visit which was led by the Network’s president was attended by the revenue authority’s Deputy Commissioner General and head of domestic tax, head of corporate and public affairs and other senior officials of the authority.
The Network’s president Abdoulie Nyockeh said the purpose of the visit was to brief Commissioner General Darboe and his team on the formation of the Network and the level of preparedness for its launch.
The meeting, he said, also gave them the opportunity to discuss areas of collaboration and support with the GRA top officials. “One of our objectives is to work in close collaboration with GRA in sensitizing the general public on the mandate and the laws it administer.”
Commissioner General Darboe, who was elated by the formation of the Network, thanked members for their foresight, describing the formation of the Network as timely. “We will do everything possible to support this Network.”
Essa Jallow, GRA Deputy Commissioner General and head of domestic tax said the Network can play a pivotal role in helping GRA to complement their efforts in its sensitizations on revenue laws and the importance government attach to tax payment.
