Newly appointed Judge Ebrima Jaiteh commences sitting

Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, yesterday, 13th November, 2017, commenced sitting at the High Court in Banjul with roll call of criminal cases.

The cases were: the State versus Cherno Omar Gagigo, the State versus Lamin Faye, the State versus Malick Mbenga, the State versus Alagie Camara, the State versus Nino Jatta, the State versus Pa Omar Keita, the State versus Yusupha Sheriff Sowe, the State versus Alhagie Kebba Sillah, the State versus Nfansu Fatty and Karamo Fatty, the State versus Sulayman Jallow and Samba Barry.

In the matter involving the State versus Sulayman Jallow and Samba Barry, the presiding judge made an order for the bill of indictment to be served on the defence counsel, Saikou Fatty of the National Agency for Legal Aid (NALA) and the matter was adjourned till today for plea taking.

Sulayman Jallow and Samba Barry are charged with three counts including rape, robbery and conspiracy to commit felony.

The particulars of the offence stated that the accused persons on the 5th April, 2015 at Tipper Garage in the Kanifing Municipality unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a girl (name withheld) without her consent.

The particulars of the offence further stated that the duo on the said date and place robbed the alleged victim with violence a mobile phone marked Sansung Galaxy valued at D15,000.
