Sinchu United, who were unable to establish themselves well in the game, opened the scores through striker Kebba Jobe in the first half but Newcastle reacted quickly for an equaliser, midfielder Abdoulie Sima leveled matters for them in the second half after deadlock in the first half to a 1-1 draw.

This pushed the game into a post-match penalty shoot-out which ended 5-4 in favour of Newcastle United.

As champions, Newcastle walked away with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D10, 000 while Sinchu United received D7, 000 as the runners-up.
