Newcastle FC clinch Amie Jeng Touray tourney

Newcastle FC on Saturday thumped Sinchu Guddon United FC 2-0 in the final game played at the Jambur  Football Field to lift the 2017 Hon. Alhagie Kebba K. Barrow, National Assembly for Kombo South sponsored  Amie Jeng Touray football tournament title in Jambur.

The keenly-contested final attracted spectators from Jambur and Kombo South.

Sinchu Guddon United FC made an ambitious start to the game but could not break through Newcastle FC’s defence line.

Newcastle FC, who was unable to assert themselves in the early part of the match, later found their rhythm, dominated the game and opened the scores through winger Molamin Jah mid-way into the first half.

Striker Muhammed Saho extended Newcastle FC’s lead mid-way into the second half, which eventually proved the winner for Magpies.

Sinchu Guddon United FC fought back for an equaliser but could not break through Newcastle FC’s formidable back line thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of Newcastle FC.

As the champions, Newcastle FC was decorated with medals, received a giant trophy and cash prize of D10, 000, whilst Sinchu Guddon United received D5, 000 as the runners-up.

Ousman Sano received a certificate as the youngest player of the tournament with Muhammed Saho receiving a certificate as the leading goal scorer while New Town FC received a certificate as the best fan club.

The kick off, taken by the sponsor Hon. Alhagie Kebba K. Barrow, National Assembly Member for Kombo South, was also witnessed by eight National Assembly members and other important dignitaries.
