new bridge that links the community of Sare Wallom and Mballow Kunda in Upper
River Region’s Jimara District was inaugurated on Monday. The construction of
the bridge was funded by Van Santen and Family in Netherlands at the tune of
580, 000 dalasis.
Yerro M.S Baldeh, project manager of Foundation Montserland in Sare Wallom said the brigde has great significance to communities of the area, saying it will go a long way in addressing some of the biggest challenges the people were encountering for the past years. “It was difficult to access the main road particularly during raining seasons. This is the main road that people use when going to our weekly market ‘Lumo’ in Sare Bojo in,” he divulged.
Mr. Baldeh commended the donors for their continued support to the development of the district, describing them as true friends of The Gambia. He appealed to the community to cast away their differences and to nurture unity among them to ensure rapid socio-economic development.
Dodou Sanneh from the Office of the President thanked Van Santen and family for their support in constructing the bridge.
Manager of Foundation Hand Together Alasan Jah called on the community to ensure the sustainability of the project.
