his first public statement as the newly appointed chief of Kombo North
District, Momodou L.K. Bojang has underscored the importance of peace and
called on all to embrace the ongoing reconciliation efforts to ensure peaceful
coexistence in New Gambia.
Chief Bojang was speaking on Friday during a mass gathering, which saw him being handed the chieftaincy stick and stamps to start work in earnest. The new Kombo North chief replaces, Paramount Chief Demba Sanyang, who retired recently.
He thanked the leadership of the country for the confident and trust reposed on him in the recent appointment in which he promised to deliver as expected.
“I want to call on all to unite and forgive one and another,” he said. “We are all created by God Almighty and if we offend God and see for His blessings, He forgives us.”

As he called on all to forgive each other, he also maintained that Gambians are able to go about their businesses thanks to the peace and unity in the country. He thus challenged all to safeguard that peace.
He continued: “Peace cannot prevail if we didn’t come together and unite as one. Love your neighbours as you love yourself”
Chief Bojang reminded all that politics come and go and based in that it should not tarnish our relations.
“If politics come, those interested can contest in elections but after that let’s unite and work towards a common goal”
He made reference to the recent political clashed in Busumbala and urged all to open a new chapter in the interest of national reconciliation.
Until his appointment, Bojang is a senior magistrate at Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, and also the magistrate who presided over environment related matters.
He also served as commanding officer, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at The Gambia Police Force.
