newly elected councilor of Kartong Ward Bubacarr M. Kanteh Tuesday presented a
four-wheel drive Opel car to Nyofelleh health center in Kombo South.
The five-seater car donated by Go for Africa, Gambia Rural Poor Association (GAMRUPA) and Young People Without Borders is aimed at easing the health facilities transport worries for communities of Nyofelleh, Busuranding and Sinchu Wuri.
Speaking on behalf of Nyofelleh Alkalo, Dembo Manneh underscored the significance of the gesture, saying for the past 20 years, these communities have never benefited from such philanthropic gesture.
The United Democratic Party (UDP) chairman for Kartong ward Alagie Bah Pullo said the provision of the vehicle targets to mitigate the health facility’s referral constraints especially during raining season as roads linking the beneficiary communities to the Brikama District Hospital are in bad condition.
He advised beneficiary communities to forget their political differences and work towards the development of their respective communities.
Councilor Bubacarr M. Kanteh acknowledged the relentless effort of the donors for making this dream a reality, saying the provision of the car was requested by the three beneficiary villages as they face difficulties in reaching the hospital during the raining season.
Alagie Fatty, a staff of Nyofolleh health center said the donation came at a time when they needed it most, pointing out that with the poor condition of the roads, the vehicle would help strengthen their referrals.
