newly appointed chief of Foni Bintang Karanai District, Mohammed Lamin Jobarteh
was Friday installed at a ceremony held in Sibanorr. The day’s event also saw
him being handed his chieftaincy materials; the flag, Stamp and staff.
Several dignitaries including West Coast Region governor, chief executive officer of Brikama Area Council and Alkalolu witnessed the occasion.
Mr. Jobarteh’s appointment as chief of Foni Bintang Karanai district came following the removal of a long time chief, Alfusainey Jarju.
Governor Bakary Sanyang reminded Chief Jobarteh to fear Allah in the execution of his duties and to work in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Acts.
He challenged the people of Foni Bintang to rally behind the new chief and give him the much-needed support to enable him carry out his duties effectively.
He equally called on them to remain united and put aside their political differences.
Chief Jobarteh expressed his commitment to comply with the rules and regulations of the government and promised to maintain justice and fair play at all time.
He also enjoined Imams, elders and religious leaders to offer him prayers for the smooth running of his office duties, pointing out that will help a great deal in the maintenance of peace and stability.
Chief executive officer of Brikama Area Council Mam Sait Jallow described the appointment of Chief Jobarteh as a step in the right direction. He called on people in the area to continue supporting the new chief to safeguard the tradition.
Mohammad Lamin Dampha described the new chief as being instrumental when it comes to the maintenance of peace in the area through the formation of advocacy groups. He urged the new chief to be God-fearing in the dispensation of his duty as well as have mercy on his people.
