The newly appointed head coach of Abuko United Women Football Club Omar Cham has suggested that The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) should capacitate the country’s football coaches to enable them excel in the world’s most popular game.

He said GFF has organized series of capacity building trainings for coaches, adding that the country’s football governing body still needs to redouble efforts to equip coaches with significant knowledge in the beautiful game. “Coaching is not an easy task. It is a difficult field to study.”

Mr. Cham secured scholarship in March this year to learn in Leipzig, Germany where he participated in a sport science study course that generally entails all the training mechanism in all sports including football.

He said during the course, they covered almost 300 lessons in football, both theory and practical, saying he is proud to be a Gambian because whenever Gambians travel outside of the country to study they always perform very well.
