Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Omar Jallow, on Saturday handed a multimillion
dalasi market to the community of NDEMBAN in the West Coast Region.
The newly-constructed market was funded by Nema project under the Ministry of Agriculture.
Speaking at the handing ceremony, Hon. Omar Jallow, praised the various project directors for a job well done at the community level.
He said that would go a long way in helping the women of Ndemban to market their agricultural produce,especially at their garden level.
He advised the community of Ndembanto ensure the sustainability of the market and take ownership of the market.
Also speaking, the chief of the district, Basiru Camara, spoke at length about the importance of the market and commended the NEMA project through the Ministry of Agriculture for their timely intervention.
The head of horticulture under the ministry, Amie Fabureh, praised the Nema-project for supporting the community of Ndemban with that kind of market, which was geared toward empowering women in agriculture and to encourage all year round farming season.
She informed the women of Ndemban that many communities needed that type of market but Ndemban women are the people that were blessed to have the market.
She also thanked the consultant for showing commitment in completing the construction of the market on time.
