The Executive Director of National Environment Agency, Ndey Sireng Bakuring, has noted that environmental protection and preservation calls for the concerted efforts of stakeholders to improve the health and socio-economic well-being of the people.

Mrs Bakuring was speaking recently at a presentation ceremony of cleansing materials to the NBR Governor’s office in Kerewan to boost the monthly cleansing exercise.

The presentation of cleansing materials aims to complement Operation Clean the Nation as championed by President Yahya Jammeh to ensure a clean and healthy environment for all, the NEA boss said.

The director noted that monthly cleansing exercise would contribute to the reduction of malaria and other infectious diseases.

In receiving the materials, NBR Governor Lamin Queen Jammeh lauded the efforts of NEA for the foresight in promoting monthly cleansing exercise to improve people lives.

He said the presentation of cleansing materials would enhance cleansing exercises in the region, noting that cleanliness is close to Godliness.

NBR Governor Jammeh called on people to change their attitude, and call on chiefs, ward councillors and Village Development Committees to support NEA in popularizing public participation in the monthly cleansing exercise.
