leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), A.N.M. Ousainou Darboe, has
disclosed that President Adama Barrow has formed a new political party called
the National Development Party (NDP).
The former vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs revealed this during an interview with Paradise TV that was posted on social media (Facebook) last week.
President Barrow was a UDP member and had resigned in 2016 to lead a coalition that eventually ousted former president, Yahya Jammeh.
Speaking on Barrow movement, Mr. Darboe pointed out that the Barrow Youth Movement and the Barrow Fans Club are both political entities.
“It was just yesterday that we heard from the IEC chairman, who told us that they are about to announce the registration of two new parties. I can tell you that one of those parties is called NDP. That is Adama Barrow’s political party,” he revealed.
According to Darboe, he has a clear proof about what he was saying, adding that he will not say something that he was not sure about.
“I have the manifesto of their new party. The party’s name is called NDP. They haven’t said anything that the other existing political parties haven’t said in their manifestos,” he added.
Recall: The Gambian leader, who came into power through a coalition in 2016 has recently made it clear during his meeting in Brikama that he would continue being The Gambia’s president beyond the three-years as agreed by the coalition.
