National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC)
Wednesday organised a day-long capacity building training for young writers as
part of their efforts to improve the writing skills of the country’s young
The training was held at the NCAC conference hall bringing together several young writers who also presented their works.
Hassoum Ceesay, NCAC acting director general and Vice President of The Gambia Writers Association thanked Denja Abdoulie, President of Nigerian Association of Writers for coming to The Gambia to lecture the young writers to improve their writing skills. “Our aim here today is to see and improve what Gambian writers have been doing in terms of writing and publishing even though people continue to accuse us of not writing.”
He said the change of government has impacted positively on Gambian writing because the climate of openness has given right to writers for a wider realm to explore forbidden areas.
Denja Abdoulie, National President of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and also the head of the National Council for Arts and Culture of Nigeria thanked the government of The Gambia through the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC) for the warm welcome he received.
