governor of the North Bank Region has underscored the importance of tax in
national development, reminding that The Gambia is a tax-based economy.
Ebrima K. Dampha, who was speaking in a recent exclusive with this medium, acknowledged that without taxes no meaningful development can take place.
To this end, he challenged people to honour their tax obligations by paying it and on time.
Governor Dampha maintained that the taxes that the people are paying are used to build good roads, bridges and other developmental infrastructures in local communities. “So if taxes are not paid, all those development will not take place”.
The government, he went on, cannot do it alone, thus the need for all to support the tax authorities in due execution of their duties.
‘If rates and taxes are paid on time there will be more development in the Gambia’.
