AIDS Secretarial (NAS) has signed a 1.6 million agreement with Ecobank to
support the prevention of global health threatening virus, Human Immune Virus
(HIV) and dissemination of information with regard to AIDS.
The signing ceremony was held at the Paradise Suite Hotel in commemoration of World AIDS day.
The deal will include Ecobank running and displaying of HIV and AIDS messages on their ATM machine screens. The agreement aims to raise awareness of people to prevent themselves from the killer virus that an estimated 21,000 people are living with in The Gambia while only 34% confirmed their status.
Director of NAS Ousman Badjie thanked Ecobank for their great initiative in supporting them to prevent the killer disease in the country and urged other companies to emulate the bank in its contribution to the development of the country.
He said they will also try to sensitise the people about HIV not only with Ecobank but to show them on the city screens across the greater Banjul area and other means of disseminating the message to the people.
