Gambian born Muhammdou Sumareh has secured Malaysian citizen following his eye-watering performance with Pahang FC in the country’s Premier league.

The 23-year-old Suwareh was born to Gambian parents but received his Malaysian citizenship in April this year after his splendid display in the country football league.

Since making his debut with Police in the Malaysia League in 2013, Suwareh has collected several accolades which earned him a call to the country’s national team.

Malaysia football expert, Kuala Lumpur explained that the first naturalized football player to wear a Malaysian national football team jersey is likely to be Sumareh. Malaysia FA is still planning to include Sumareh in the national team to prove his worth.

Sumareh inspired Pahang FC to the FA Cup title earlier this month and stated his willingness to play for Malaysia national team in the AFF Cup in November.

“If I get a call-up to the national squad, it will be an honor for me and I will try and help Malaysia in the upcoming AFF cup,” Sumareh said.
