MoFA’s Comm. officer’s official vehicle burnt to ashes

An inferno on midnight Saturday morning burnt to ashes a government vehicle allocated to Saikou Ceesay, the communication officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, The Point has learned.

The vehicle with the registration number plate GG 0606A was burnt beyond recognition. The source of the fire was not known by the time of going to press.

“I parked the vehicle after 6:00 p.m. after returning from doing an official assignment given to me by my permanent secretary. I was awakened by a group of youths who were knocking at the compound gate, shouting ‘your compound is on flame. Open the door.’ It was at the time that I woke up, rushed to the balcony and saw the car in inflames,” he said.

“It was then that I found an escape route and reported the matter to police at Old Yundum Station.”

The point has been reliably informed that other it was only Mr. Ceesay’s vehicle that was burnt but Criminal Investigative Department (CID) is investigating the matter.
