Darboe, has given out D725, 000 in
cheques to various organisation as part of his annual contribution toward the
New Year celebration.
The presentation, attended by various Christian denominations as well as vulnerable people, youth and the needy was held on Thursday 28 December, 2017, at VDF’s office in Churchill Town.
The beneficiaries include: Ekun Baba Oden Hunting society with a cheque of D50, 000, the University of The Gambia received a cheque of D200, 000. The Gambia Christian community received 50 Crates of soft drinks worth D22, 500.00, 50 cartons of beverages worth D165, 000 and 500 small bags of rice worth D287, 500, all amounting to a total of D725, 000 respectively.
Speaking at the presentation, the public relations officer VDF Saikou Fofana, seized the opportunity to welcome all the beneficiaries to the VDF’s office, saying; “that today as you all know, it is a tradition in the operation of VDF, to officially give support our neighbours Christians in The Gambia.”
“We wish to pray for all Gambians in ensuring that there is peace from all Gambian.” He added that VDF is a charitable organisation and they stand to share and care and give support to the poor and needy across diverse background.
“Today our reason of gathering here is to ask our brother Christians to pray for the leadership of the country and to pray for the VDF and the CEO Mr. Darboe, and to pray for the country at large, for peace development and tranquilly.”
He cited that VDF is ensuring that there is peace for everybody; that there is happiness for everybody and that there is love for all for development for all Gambians.
He stated that the Christian community are our partners, and we share so many things with them as neighbours, brother and development partners and that VDF believes that they are the same family .
For his part, Father Michael, representing the Christian community in The Gambia expressed total joy and appreciation over the donated items to the Christian community in The Gambia.
He seized the opportunity to thank Mr. Darboe for this wonderful gesture, saying they would continue to pray for Mr. Darboe for good health and prosperity.
