As Samger beat Steve Biko to top league

Striker Modou Njie Sarr’s 79 th-minute strike has earned Gambia Ports Authority a point against Brikama United in the week-five fixtures of the 2015-2016 First-Eco Partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation division one league played at the Brikama Box Mini Stadium on Sunday.

Brikama United opened the scores through striker Sainey Bojang in the 46th minute of the game before striker Modou Njie Sarr levelled matters for Gambia Ports Authority in the 79th minute of the game to share the spoils.

Samger beat Bakau giant killers Steve Biko 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium Saturday to top the 2015-2016 First Eco-partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation division one league standings.

Samger opened the tally through striker Mamadi Ngum in the 27th minute of the game, which eventually proved to be the winner and earned top spot in the league with 9 points in five games.

Modou Jallow could have levelled the scores for Steve Biko in the second half from the penalty spot but his penalty was saved by Samger’s goalkeeper Mamadi Jarjue.

Real De Banjul came from one nil down to beat Banjul United 2-1 at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to grab their first-ever victory in the premier tier since the start of the league in November 2015.

Real De Banjul are struggling in the league with prior to their clash with Banjul United in the all-Banjul derby game and need only a win to move away from the red zone, while Banjul United are mid-table in the league.

Pa Omar Babou gave Banjul United the lead in the 54th minute of the game before former Brikama United winger Bully Drammeh levelled the scores for Real De Banjul in the 65th minute of the game from Ebou Kanteh’s brilliant past to cancel Pa Omar Babou’s opener to make it 1-all.

Striker Yankuba Jarjue alias Torres snatched the winner for Real De Banjul in the 81st minute of the game to grab their first-ever win in the premier league.

Wallidan came from behind to draw with struggling Serrekunda United at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

Gambia Armed Forces beat defending league champions Gamtel 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to level on points with Samger and Gambia Ports Authority in the league.

Striker Emil Sambou was on target for the Soldiers in the game to secure their second win in the league.

Elsewhere, Bombada drew 2-2 with Hawks in the other week-five fixture played at the Brikama Box Bar Box Mini Stadium.

Samger, Gambia Ports Authority and Gambia Armed Forces are with 9 points each in five games, but Samger are leading the standing on goal difference.

Brikama United, Gamtel are with 7 points each in five games, and Real De Banjul are now with 6 points in five games after beating Banjul United 2-1 in Banjul derby at the weekend.

Banjul United and Bakau giant killers Steve Biko are with 5 points each in five games. Hawks and Bombada are struggling in the league with 4 points each in five games.

Serrekunda United are rooted at the bottom in the league with only 2 points in five games after managing two draws and three defeats.
