Mobile thief gets custodial sentence

Magistrate Lamin George of the Bundung Magistrates' Court on 15th February 2010 convicted and sentenced one Alhagie Jaiteh to a mandatory jail term of three months for stealing.

According to the particulars of offence, on 27th February 2010, at Kerr Sering Village, the convict, Alhagie Jaiteh entered into the dwelling house of one Dodou Bojang and therein stole two mobile phones, mark Sony Erickson, valued at D2000 and LG, valued at D2000.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and also admitted the facts of the case as narrated by the police prosecutor as the truth.

In his plea of mitigation, the convict told the court that he is a first time offender and was remorseful of what he had done.

He further urged the court to exercise mercy on him.
